Welcome to the Hursley 10k 2009 Administration Page
Refreshment points
There will be two refreshment points on the running route and one at the finish. The positioning of these refreshment points will mean that the 10k route has two, and the 5k has one.
Toilets
There will be toilets at the start/finish area.
Changing facilities
There will be change rooms at the start finish area. There are no showers.
Kit storage
We will not have a place for runners to leave any kit while they are running. Items left in the change rooms are left at the runners risk.
Parking
We have two areas for parking. The first is very close to the start/finish area. When this area fills up we will use the overflow parking area. This area is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the start/finish area. We will have marshalls guiding you within the parking areas, please follow their instructions.
Please do not time you arrival for the last minute. As the overflow parking is further away from the start/finish area, you need to ensur ethat you arrive at least half an hour before the start of the race in order to be able to park and pick up your numbers.
We can not delay the race for late runners.
The race finish area and results
Please obey the marshalls in the finish area. We understand that you may be tired when you finish the race, or you may want to wait for a friend, but it is important that you exit the finish area as soon as possible. Last year we had a number of instances of runners unhappy with the results. They had finished the race minutes before the time indicated in the race results. The following section describes, briefly, how the finish area works so that hopefully we can avoid such situations this year.
Every time a runner crosses the finish line the time is recorded. Let's use an example where we have 50 runners in the race. Once all 50 runners have crossed the line we'll have a list of 50 times. However there is no runner information on that list, it it just a list of minutes and seconds.
The marshalls will encourage you to enter a funnel. At the end of the funnel is a table where some volunteers will record your race number.
Once all 50 runners have passed through the funnels we'll have a list of 50 numbers. There are no times on this list, it is just a list of runners numbers in th esequence in which those numbers were recorded passing the table.
Now we link the list of 50 times to the list of 50 numbers and generate the results. First number in the number list gets allocated the first time on the time list etc.
Consequently, if you, jump across into another funnel or stop and wait for a friend to finish the race, the position at which your number is recorded leaving the funnels will not match the time that you actually finished the race in. Should you then bring the error to our attention there is nothing we can do.
If you exit the finish area without passing through the funnels, or rush past the table at the end without allowing time for the people manning the tables to note down your number then your name will not appear in the results and, again, there is nothing we can do to rectify that.
So, please, follow the marshalls instructions when you finish the race and make sure that the people at the tables at the end of the funnels have taken down your number correctly.
Your co-operation will mean more accurate results.
Queries about incorrect results
If you have a query, or you spot an error in, the results please let the organiser know. If the error is reported within a week of the results being released we will look into it and do our best to resolve the issue.
Although, as stated in the section above, there are circumstances where we can do nothing to change the results, there are times when we make mistakes.
For example, numbers could be transposed when being copied from the lists of numbers obtained at the tables at the end of the funnels onto computer, or numbers could be misread. Sadly, these are things that have happened. While we will implement additional checks this year to try minimise the risk of this happening, we can't promise that an error or two won't creep in.
